Food additive E466 is a chemical compound that belongs to the group of thickeners, stabilizers and emulsifiers. It is the sodium salt of carboxymethyl cellulose. It is obtained from an environmentally friendly product - cellulose.

Synonyms:

◾️Sodium carboxymethylcellulose;
◾️ Food grade carboxymethylcellulose;
◾️ CMC;
◾️ Na-CMC;
◾️ Sodium carboxymethyl cellulose;
◾️ Adhesive food sealant.

PRODUCTION OF E466 IN THE CIS

Food grade carboxymethyl cellulose is a light, odorless powder. The production of E466 in the CIS is based on the treatment of plant fibers in an alkaline environment with chloroacetic acid and washed. The process takes place in several stages, where the raw materials after processing are dried, crushed and packaged. In Russia, the additive is made from wood pulp. Cotton is used in Uzbekistan, which is better than wood in its properties:

◾️ The content of alpha cellulose in it is up to 98%;
◾️ The length of the fibers is more than 10 mm;
◾️ High degree of polymerization.

Uzbekistan plays one of the leading roles in the production of E466 in Central Asia. Barvent also manufactures E469 (enzymatically hydrolyzed carboxymethyl cellulose) and FH9 (cremodan additive) from cotton raw materials. Cremadon in Tashkent is used as a food additive for ice cream. Kremadon is needed to stabilize frozen desserts.

APPLICATION E466

Cellulose additives are widely used in industry. This is due to a number of advantages over other additives:

◾️ Good viscous properties;
◾️ Human safety;
◾️ They are tasteless and odorless;
◾️ Good moisture retention;
◾️ Promote the absorption of fats;
◾️ Improve product quality;
◾️ Low cost.

In food production additives act as a thickener for dairy products, confectionery, ketchup, mayonnaise. Cremodan is used to give ice cream and other cold desserts the desired shape and texture, as well as to maintain the desired consistency over a long period of time.

In pharmaceuticals, E466 is used in the manufacture of medicines capsules, ointments, eye drops, laxatives) as a thickener and stabilizer. It forms a viscous colloidal solution that does not lose its properties for a long time.

The sodium salt of carboxymethyl cellulose is used as a raw material in the production of cosmetics. It is used in the manufacture of shampoos, conditioners, hairspray, toothpaste.

The company offers on favorable terms and at an affordable price to buy high-quality food additives E466, E469, FH9 of its own production under the ASDA FOOD trademark.
